Future of Business Schools in Egypt

Due to the development of business and management education and the acceleration of its internationalization as well as connection with industrial and business community, the business and management education has received more attention both theoretically and professionally. There are reports, articles and books, in addition to different conferences and workshops, which are dedicated to investigate and discuss this business and management education. Local and international efforts have been made by businessmen, universities' administrators and the supervisory and governance organizations of the higher education systems in addition to experts in this field. These efforts were organized and supported because of the importance of business and management education for the economic performance, as well as the movement of knowledge, trade, labor and students among different nations.

Faculty of Commerce – Cairo University in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Universities (Business Studies Sector) is organizing an international workshop on 22nd April 2017. The aim of this one-day workshop is to discuss and reach a vision, priorities and mechanisms needed to support this orientation in Egyptian Governmental Universities. The event will include sessions covering the following topics:

    •  Analysis of current status of business and management education in Egypt.
    •  Best global practices for the development and internationalization of business and management education and its relevance to the Egyptian status.
    •    Best global outreach practices to connect between business and management education institutions with business and industrial communities and its relevance to the Egyptian status.
    •    The view of related parties to the graduates and output of business and management education in various educational levels (undergraduate, post graduate, continuing education and research studies).

We aim to conclude this workshop by a proposed roadmap for developing the business and management education in Egypt; including different systems (regular system, irregular system, open education, special programs and distant learning) and different education levels (under-graduate, post-graduate and further and continuing education). Further, to rebuild the business and management education connection with business and industrial community through agreed vision, priorities, implementation mechanisms and future performance control standards.

 Participants will include all parties involved in business and management education including (but not limited to) the following:

  •  Officials of universities, faculties and scientific research institutes who are responsible for business and management education,
  •   Officials of supervisory and governance organizations of higher education system (Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of  Scientific   Research  National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education, ..),
  •    Institutions and donors in the field of business and management education (Fulbright, Misr El-Kheir Foundation …etc)
  •    International and Local experts in the field
  •    Industry representatives, Media and other interested parties.
